Wheels Will Take Us There — By Bicycle Through Japan and South Korea

Tuija Kauppinen and her husband cycled the length of Japan and across South Korea. In her book, she observes the cultures of both countries and their differences. The work takes the reader cycling alongside bullet trains, into rice fields and through tunnels stretching for kilometers. The couple enjoys Japanese hospitality, sleeps under bridges, and tries to understand the Japanese smile. On their journey, they don't chase Instagram-worthy landscapes but instead meet local people who bring the same depth to their cycling trip as umami does to food.
